The big idea

MWA and Prince Alexander are continuing to pursue the redevelopment and revitalization of abandoned, tarnished, and/or industrial properties of the near southwest side of downtown Indianapolis. In just the last couple of years, together they have added a Hilton Tru Hotel, a TownePlace Suites by Marriott, innovative heavy timber offices, and collaborative workspaces for 2nd stage technology companies. Plans for an Avid Hotel by IHG and a Cambria Hotel by Choice are also in the works.

White River

Steve Alexander, longtime resident of Indy’s near southside, is excited about the project.  "We have been active in the White River redevelopment in Indianapolis for decades--master planning and motivating government participation, and securing financial redevelopment assistance for businesses in the area.”  Prince Alexander is also a sponsor of White River dragon boat races in May.  “The site has been used industrially for over 150 years, unfortunately ending in historical neglect and underutilization.  We aim to correct that."

Revitalization

The development site is a perfect example of how to respect the White River and make the most of its natural beauty, becoming an enormous benefit not just for the local community, but for the neighbors, businesses and visitors.

Hoosier Aquatic Management intends to conduct an ongoing annual effort to revitalize the plant and animal life in the area, and partnerships with Indy Greenways, Reconnecting Our Waterways, and DNR are being formed now to interface with the adjacent Wapahani Trail.

Redevelopment

Aside from parking for visitors, the project will bring new entertainment jobs, environmental restoration, expansion of the retail and hospitality industry.  It will also kick-start reactivation of the river's edge to highlight this precious ecological asset.

The BACK 9 GOLF & ENTERTAINMENT proposed is a family entertainment center very similar to the TOP GOLF CENTER in Fishers on 116th St, but with superior technology and specialized food/beverage options.  It will include an outdoor biergarten along with several thousand square feet of group meeting, training and conference facilities in a unique indoor/outdoor sporting and entertainment space.
